Product Eligibility & Categories
Product Eligibility
- Products must be physically exhibited at PRINT 09.
- Equipment must be physically present at least in substantial part with enough detail to permit product evaluation.
While videos, computer simulations or other forms of electronic display may be useful supplements to the physical presence of hardware—electronic displays alone do not qualify as the required physical presence of hardware.
- Software products must be substantially demonstratable for consideration.
- Intangible services must be substantially described with supporting graphics for consideration.
- For a product shown only in a distributor’s booth, manufacturers must have the endorsement of the exhibiting distributor—including certification the product is regularly sold by the distributor. (Contact the Must See ‘ems Program Administrator before submitting entry.)
- Products must be commercially available* (i.e., orders are being accepted under the exhibitor’s standard conditions to be delivered no later than May 1, 2010).
*Exceptions to the delivery requirements may be made for special products and long build lead time products (such as large commercial press products). All exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. (Contact the Must See ‘ems Program Administrator.)
Categories
Must See ‘em
A product, hardware, software or service exhibited on the show floor deemed innovative and compelling for the majority of PRINT 09 attendees.
Encore Must See ‘em
Products exhibited at PRINT 09 that demonstrate continuing, compelling acceptance by the marketplace, preferably with improved performance since their Must See ‘ems selection in 2008. Encore candidates may not be entered in other categories. A separate nomination form will be sent to companies with products that qualify for “encore” consideration.
Worth-a-Look
A product, hardware, software or service exhibited at PRINT 09 deemed compelling for print providers in specific market segments or niche markets, but not for a majority of attendees OR qualifying products that are broadly important but somewhat less compelling than a Must See ‘em.
Technology Demonstration
A category for the demonstration of technologies, methods, techniques or concepts still under development and not yet available in products for sale, that have the promise of impacting print production and the print business. (Orders are not being accepted for products in this category.)
- “New Products” that utilize established (including minor variations) technologies, methods or techniques are not eligible for this category.
- Products shown “behind the curtain” or to a limited audience under non-disclosure are not eligible for consideration.
- A special Must See ‘ems entry form available from the Program Administrator is required to enter in this category.
Entries Under Non-Disclosure
Must See ‘ems nominations under non-disclosure are discouraged, but possible for a limited number of special case circumstances.
- Each non-disclosure nomination must be designated on all 4 pages of the Candidate for Nomination Forms to be considered on its own merit.
- Non-disclosure limitations automatically expire on September 10, 2009.
